When:  Will be held In August 2013

Where:  Bruge, Belgium

This special festival is held every four yesrs.  It is set along the beautifully illuminated canals of Bruges and transports visitors back in time. Soak up the atmosphere of the middle ages, the prosperous Burgundian era and the frivolous Baroque period and enjoy performances by 600 musicians and actors re-enacting scenes such as a 19th century wedding, the trail of one of Bruges? infamous gang of thieves and the arrival of Charles 11 having been banished from Britain by Cromwell. Head towards the canals at 9pm when the fun begins.

IMPORTANT:
Please note that the details of the event are subject to change. We strongly recommended that you check with the organizers before making any travel arrangements.

Belgium - background and overview:

Belgium became independent from the Netherlands in 1830; it was occupied by Germany during World Wars I and II. It has prospered in the past half century as a modern, technologically advanced European state and member of NATO and the EU. Tensions between the Dutch-speaking Flemings of the north and the French-speaking Walloons of the south have led in recent years to constitutional amendments granting these regions formal recognition and autonomy.
