World Body painting Festival in Seeboden started in 1998 and since it becomes the greatest body painting event in Australia. Seeboden is located in south Austarlia. The town is surrounded by marvelous views of mountains and lakes.

The artists who participate in the festival come from over 40 countries. Thousands of visitors reach the place and worship the beauty of their work. During the seven days of the festival, the artists paint on the models’ naked bodies as if they are painting on live canvas.

The festival events are competitive ones. The prices are set according to various body painting categories: painting with brush/sponge, special effects, UV radiation, etc… In addition, music and dance shows take place.

Various kinds of events and colorful shows, mainly of makeup, masks and cloths are held in the middle aged castle, Sommeregg.

Austria - background and overview:

Once the center of power for the large Austro-Hungarian Empire, Austria was reduced to a small republic after its defeat in World War I.
Following annexation by Nazi Germany in 1938 and subsequent occupation by the victorious Allies in 1945, Austria's status remained unclear for a decade. A State Treaty signed in 1955 ended the occupation, recognized Austria's independence, and forbade unification with Germany.
A constitutional law that same year declared the country's "perpetual neutrality" as a condition for Soviet military withdrawal. Following the Soviet Union's collapse in 1991 and Austria's entry into the European Union in 1995, some Austrians have called into question this neutrality. A prosperous, democratic country, Austria entered the Economic and Monetary Union in 1999.
