Once a year on the first Saturday of August, the Scottish town Aboyne (its resident call it a village) become a center of traditional sport contests that include in addition to sport, parades and impressive ceremonies.

The Scottish Highland Games started in 1892 and since they take place all over Scotland and among Scottish concentrations in USA, New-Zealand, Australia, etc…

The traditional games include contests that are not known on worldwide sport. Contests in throwing boles, heavy hammers, iron balls, rocks, etc…
The music played by the bagpipes is heard all day over the place. Thousands visitors enjoy being hosted in colorful giant tents and offered lot of whisky and beer.

The judges and part of the participants wear Kilt, the traditional Scottish skirt.
The tents, the joy, lot of whisky and the peculiar contests create a unique traditional atmosphere that promises exciting experience to all the visitors.
