The island country Antigua and Barbuda that is located in the east of the Caribbean Sea, holds every year since 1957 a colorful traditional carnival.
In spite of the fact that the carnival is held on hot season it attracts thousands of celebrators, locals and tourists.

Due to the numerous visitors during the festival days and the high demand for tickets and accommodations it is recommended to check hotel rates and book rooms & tickets well in advance.

The most significant event of this Caribbean greatest summer festival is the colored parade that turns the streets of St. John’s, the capital of the island,  to a giant show stage.

More information, show time / schedule of events, how to get, etc, is present in the carnival’s link website. See details below, under “Event Related Information” section.

For accommodations, check the most recommended hotels in Saint John's and around, most of them suggest FREE CANCELLATION option or NO PREPAYMENT NEEDED – PAY AT THE PROPERTY:

Antigua and Barbuda background and overview
The Siboney were the first people to inhabit the islands of Antigua and Barbuda in 2400 B.C., but Arawak Indians populated the islands when COLUMBUS landed on his second voyage in 1493. Early Spanish and French settlements were succeeded by an English colony in 1667. Slavery, established to run the sugar plantations on Antigua, was abolished in 1834. The islands became an independent state within the British Commonwealth of Nations in 1981.
