The king, Momo, who is a very important character of the carnival is picked in the beginning of the celebration. During the Saturdays of January (a month earlier) lot of rehearsal of the music, dancing and parades are taking place on the city streets.
Due to the numerous visitors during the festival days and the high demand for accommodations it is recommended to check hotel rates and book rooms well in advance.
La Gran Parada parade starts the carnival on Saturday with lot of spectaculars masks, costumes and music. The queens with her entourage are dancing in the streets according to the sound of the carnival’s drums.The dancing continues during all 4 days. This is an adventure you must not miss.
