BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival
Running since 2003, BASSINTHEGRASS is the Northern Territory’s biggest and longest-running music festival, and something of a rite of passage for Darwin locals marking the start of the Dry Season. It started life at the Darwin Amphitheatre before outgrowing the venue and relocating to the wide-open sands of Mindil Beach, where it now draws thousands of music fans each year.
Held annually each May on Mindil Beach, the festival stages a mix of major international and Australian acts against the backdrop of a Top End sunset over the Arafura Sea, with the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets running alongside for food and drinks.

- Tickets: General admission tickets are sold in tiered releases (early bird through to final release) via Ticketek, and typically sell out — buy as early as possible once they go on sale.
- Beach Setup: Mindil Beach is an open, sandy site with shaded rest areas dotted around — pack a beach mat or low chair and stake out a spot early for the best view of the main stage.
- Getting There: Darwin is well served by direct flights from major Australian cities; Mindil Beach itself is only a few minutes from the CBD by car, rideshare, or a pleasant walk along the waterfront.
