Boryeong is located in South Chungcheong region near the Yellow Sea in South Korea. It holds, since 1999, once a year in mid July the Boryeong Mud Festival.
The festival is known as one of the marvelous summer festivals of Korea. It attracts mass of tourists and local residents of all ages and nationality.
During the festival days, the quit city turned into a joyful and lively city. Thousands visitors enjoy the various shows, colorful street parade with bands, dancers, jugglers, etc…
The funny atmosphere is created when all the audience is smeared with gray mud and participates in diverse contests. In the evening, music events are held and in the background the shooting of the fireworks that colors the sky is heard.
Thousands of people, local and tourists pour into town and the demand for accommodation is higher than usual, therefore it is advisable to check hotel prices and make reservations ahead of time.
According to the organizers of the festival, the mud has curing and cosmetic values so the mud spread is good for health as well as for the soul.
Lot of activities is offered to the public. The children can enjoy mud baths activities, painting with mud, etc… The adults can enjoy mud massages, mud wrestling, mud painting etc…
In any case, no one of the thousands visitors can remain clean. It is recommended to bring extra clean cloths.
