Argentina the Tango Homeland organizes a great celebration of tango events every year in Buenos Aires. The festival hosts an audience of local dancers and guests who come especially from all over the world to the largest and most important tango festival in the world.

Due to the numerous visitors during the festival days and the high demand for accommodations it is recommended to check hotel rates and book rooms well in advance.

The most significant event of the festival is Tango World Championship – “Mundial de Tango“. The contest has two categories:

Among other events, the festival visitors can enjoy cultural offerings as:

  • More than fifty music and dance productions

Argentina background and overview
Following independence from Spain in 1816, Argentina experienced periods of internal political conflict between conservatives and liberals and between civilian and military factions. After World War II, a long period of Peronist authoritarian rule and interference in subsequent governments was followed by a military junta that took power in 1976. Democracy returned in 1983, and has persisted despite numerous challenges, the most formidable of which was a severe economic crisis in 2001-02 that led to violent public protests and the resignation of several interim presidents.
