The Christmas Market in Augsburg (Weihnachtsmarkt) is one of the oldest holiday’s markets in Germany. The market is held for over five hundred years! It takes place during Advent (In the Christian calendar, the first season of the church year, a period of preparation for the birth of Jesus.
Advent begins on the Sunday nearest to November 30 and continues until Christmas). The special event in Augsburg Christmas market is a show of flying angels playing music over the market and the Renaissance town hall which is transformed into a giant Advent calendar.
On the Christmas Market days accommodations can be fully booked, hence it is recommended to make a room’s reservations in advance in order to find a room in a reasonable price.
