Christmas market in Freiburg is held, every year, from the second half of November till Christmas. The market is located in Rathausplatz in the center of the ancient quarter of the city. The houses around the square create a marvelous decoration to the charmed market.
In tens of wooden huts the visitors can buy various handmade crafts, presents and decoration for the holiday, side by side with hotdogs, hot chestnuts, apples and candied almonds, hot cider, Glühwein and punch that warm the body and soul in the cold winter days.
On the Christmas Market days accommodations can be fully booked, hence it is recommended to make a room’s reservations in advance in order to find a room in a reasonable price.
Wooden crafts and toys, unique to the Black Forest area, are sold. In a workshop, wax candles are made to order. All those create a festive atmosphere and a genuine fiesta for the whole family.
