Christmas market in Lübeck which is located in north Germany preserves an ancient tradition that started in 1648. Since then it is held, every year, from the second half of November until end December. The market is located on the Baroque old market square from the 16th century.
The gateway to the market is lightened with thousands colorful lamps so the ancient houses around the square is a marvelous decoration to the charmed market.
More than 400 wooden huts and stalls sell various handcrafts, presents and presents for the holiday side by side with hotdogs, hot chestnuts, candied almonds and apples, hot wine, Glühwein and punch that warm the heart and soul of the visitors in the cold winter nights.
On the Christmas Market days accommodations can be fully booked, hence it is recommended to make a room’s reservations in advance in order to find a room in a reasonable price.
In addition to the market the visitors can enjoy Christmas Fairy Tale Forest where 500 fir trees are lightened with colored lights beside the stalls that revitalize the Brothers Grimm fairy tales.
All of the above are in addition to other activities in town like: St. Peter’s, St. Mary’s Church, Hospital of the holy spirit and in Niederegger Marzipan. All of these create a festive atmosphere, to the whole family, on the days prior the coming holiday.
