Christmas Markets (Weihnachtsmarkt) in Munich

The Christmas Markets in Munich are held for more than six hundred years. The markets which are held in different venues, turn the city, from end November to the 23rd of December to a most festive city.

Beautiful presents for the holiday, marvelous decorations, hot wine (Gluhwein) and lot of hot dogs and steaks attract the city’s residents as well as lot of tourists who fill the city squares. The main market takes place in Marienplatz square.

During the Christmas Markets days, accommodation and tickets may be scarce owing to higher demands, therefore it is advisable to check accommodation prices and make reservations ahead of time.

More markets are held in the near squares and in different venues all over the city. Due to the great capacity of the hotels in the city center it is recommended to book a room in advance.

Germany background and overview
As Europe's largest economy and second most populous nation, Germany remains a key member of the continent's economic, political, and defense organizations. European power struggles immersed Germany in two devastating World Wars in the first half of the 20th century and left the country occupied by the victorious Allied powers of the US, UK, France, and the Soviet Union in 1945.
