In the summer of 1992, Coburg which is located 90 km north to Nürmberg, held the first international Samba festival. Coburg that earned the title “the capital of Samba in Europe”, continues the tradition and holds every year, on the weekend of the second week of July (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) an impressive samba festival.

 

The festival hosts the queen of Rio de Janeiro carnival with samba bands from all over the world especially South America. The samba is heard all over the town. The coffee houses and the bars are filled with guests who dance according to the music.

Due to the numerous visitors during the festival days and the high demand for accommodations it is recommended to check hotel rates and book rooms well in advance.

 

Thousands of drummers, dancers, singers and musicians with their colorful cloths turn in the three days festival the streets and squares of the quite town, to a center of tempo and exotic dance.
