CresFest Folk & Roots Festival

Launched in 2021 as a registered charity with a mission to build community appreciation of music and the creative arts, CresFest has grown into a major folk and world music gathering, drawing hundreds of touring and local artists to the historic goldfields town of Creswick, just north of Ballarat.

Held annually each autumn, the festival takes over Creswick for three days, spilling out of the town hall and into local pubs, halls and outdoor spaces across the town.

Festival Highlights:

• Multi-Venue Line-Up: Creswick Town Hall, local pubs and community halls all host performances, letting festival-goers wander between stages on foot.
• Folk & World Music: A packed bill of folk, roots and world music acts spans established touring artists and emerging performers.
• Community Collaborations: Special one-off performances, such as the community-built Restrung Orchestra, showcase CresFest’s grassroots, participatory spirit.
• Open Mic & Guided Walks: Extra programming beyond the main stages, including open mic sessions and guided town walks, adds a relaxed, community-festival feel.
