Devil’s Carnival or in its local name La Diablada, is held once a year  in Oruru, a mountain silver mining town, which is located 3,710 meters high above sea level, approximately 230 km south to the capital La Paz.

The central motive of the carnival is the figure of the devil. The celebrators who combine Indian pagan habits with Christian habits create a marvelous authentic mixture of dance, music, tempo, clothing and color. The dance of the celebrators in the holiday parade helps the Virgen del Sovacón to drive away the devil and the evil.

Due to the numerous visitors during the festival days and the high demand for tickets and accommodations it is recommended to check hotel rates and book rooms well in advance

The carnival is known as one of the most authentic carnivals which are held in South America. The visitors can expect a unique culture experience.
