Merida is located in west Spain. The Easter Week processions in Merida are known by their beauty and its unique atmosphere. The processions pass in front of ancient Roman monuments that are scattered over the city.

The most significant parade is la borriquita (a tiny donkey) and it symbols the start of Easter fiestas over the city. The procession take place on Sunday before Easter which is known as Palm Sunday, the day that Jesus Christus enter Jerusalem.

The second procession is the Vía Crucis/Via Dolorosa which moves in a complete silence to the Roman Amphitheatre. The holiday days attract thousands of celebrators, local and tourists to the historical city.
