Holetown is located on west Barbados. The city marks, every year since 1977, the the arrival of the first eighty English colonists who landed on Holetown shore with ten African slaves who were kidnapped during the journey.
The festival celebrates the arrival of the “William and John” settlers’ boat that reached Holetown on the second half of February 1627. With its arrival, Barbados Island became British colony.
During the festival, accommodation may be scarce owing to higher demands , therefore it is advisable to check accommodation prices and make reservations ahead of time.
The festival’s events are held in open air. Lot of entertainment performances is held: Gospel, Classical, Tuk Band and Calypso concerts, folklore dancing shows, etc…
In addition, a handcraft and food market is held, parade of bands and vintage cars and various cruising competitions.
