Carnival Gualeguaychú which is celebrated every year in Argentina is known as one of the greatest carnivals in the world. The Argentineans treat it as the most important carnival in their country. In the colorful carnival, that is held in Gualeguaychú in Entre Rios region, Samba competitions are held. The competitions are very similar to those of the carnival of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Four groups of hundred dancers participate in the competitions.
The dancers of the winner group are crown as the kings of the carnival. Thousands of people, local and tourists pour into town and the demand for accommodation is higher than usual, therefore it is advisable to check hotel prices and make reservations ahead of time.
The carnival’s events are held, every year, on Saturdays of January and February and the first Saturday of March. The colorful parade takes place in Corsódromo, a unique complex that was built in January 1997 with about 40,000 sitting places that allow the spectators comfort watch of the parade that march on a half kilometer course.
The tempo of the music, the euphoria of the dancers, the multicolored of the cloths and the thousands audience create a marvelous carnival.
