Listowel Food Fair
Established in 1995, the Listowel Food Fair has grown into one of Ireland’s longest-running food festivals, celebrating the rich culinary heritage of the lush, fertile land around County Kerry.
Held annually each November, the fair brings artisan food and drink producers from across the region into Listowel, filling the town with tastings, demonstrations, and a lively food and craft market.
Food Fair Highlights:
- Food & Craft Market: Artisan producers gather at the Listowel Arms Hotel to showcase cheeses, baked goods, beverages, and other locally made specialties.
- Tastings & Cooking Demonstrations: Visitors can sample regional produce firsthand while watching live cooking demonstrations from chefs and food producers.
- Competitions & Presentations: The fair hosts a full program of food competitions and presentations celebrating the best of local and regional cuisine.
- Listowel Food Fair Awards: A highlight gala evening recognises emerging artisan producers, food writers, and innovators, capped by a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Tips for Visitors & Trip Planning:
- Tickets: Most market browsing is free, while tastings, workshops, and the awards dinner are ticketed separately through the official website.
- Best Way to Experience It: Events run across several venues around town over the course of the week, so it’s worth checking the daily schedule in advance to plan around the sessions that interest you most.
- Getting There: Listowel is in North Kerry, a short drive from Tralee and within easy reach of Shannon and Kerry airports.
- What to Wear: Irish autumn weather is changeable, so a warm layer and a rain jacket are worth packing for moving between venues.
- Accommodation: Rooms in Listowel fill up quickly during fair week, so booking well in advance is strongly recommended.
- Explore North Kerry: The wider region offers castles, coastline, and countryside worth extending a trip for — browse top Tralee tours and activities here.
