Lopburi is located 150 km north east to Bangkok. The town celebrates, every year, on the last Sunday of November a traditional monkey banquet. The queer events take place in San Phra Kan shrine and in Phra Prang Sam Yot shrine. In both places there is a large amount of monkeys.

This is a mass feeding fiesta of more than 3000 Long-tail macaque monkeys who live in the area. According to the local faith, feeding the monkeys brings good luck. In the banquet, long tables covered with red tablecloths are placed.

On the tables the celebrators put colored ice with great variety of fresh fruits. More than 10,000 people reach the place in order to see the thousands of monkeys that eat all the colored fruits.

Thailand background and overview
A unified Thai kingdom was established in the mid-14th century. Known as Siam until 1939, Thailand is the only Southeast Asian country never to have been taken over by a European power. A bloodless revolution in 1932 led to a constitutional monarchy. In alliance with Japan during World War II, Thailand became a US ally following the conflict. Thailand is currently facing armed violence in its three Muslim-majority southernmost provinces.
