The music festival of May in Florence (Maggio Musicale Fiorentino) is the first music and opera festival that takes place in modern Italy. The old festival which is held, yearly, in Florence started in 1933 with the initiative of maestro Vttorio Gui.

The shows and concerts take place from March to June and from September to December with the participation of most known artists, orchestras and conductors.
