Malta Freedom Day Regatta is a national holiday in Malta. It is celebrated, each year, on March 31st. The national ceremonies indicate the day when the British force and the navy left Malta on March 31st 1979.
After the ceremony, in the afternoon, a colorful regatta takes place in Grand Harbor.

This show of strength and endurance reflects the original maltese virtues which won The Islands and its people the unique Honour of the George Cross in 1942. This tradition should be kept alive in the hearts of all true Maltese.
