Malta International Fireworks Festnd  is held once a year in end April in Valletta the capital of Malta. The festival that started in 2003 lasts for two days with the participation of local fireworks producers and guest who promise colorful noisy unforgettable event.

The fireworks are shot above the sea are accompanied with music. A competition between the fireworks producers takes place. Due to the numerous visitors during the festival days and the high demand for accommodations it is recommended to check hotel rates and book rooms  well in advance.

The fireworks are shot from a point near the Grand Harbor, so this is the perfect place to stand in order to enjoy the show. The program and timetable is present in “The Malta Tourism Authority” website. See details below, under “Event Related Information” section.

Malta background and overview
Great Britain formally acquired possession of Malta in 1814. The island staunchly supported the UK through both World Wars and remained in the Commonwealth when it became independent in 1964. A decade later Malta became a republic. Since about the mid-1980s, the island has transformed itself into a freight transshipment point, a financial center, and a tourist destination. Malta became an EU member in May 2004.
