For two weeks the French quarter of New Orleans, the greatest city of Louisiana in south USA turns to a center of parties and loose fiestas. Mardi Gras carnival is held in many places around the world, but in New Orleans it reaches heights of beauty and joy that can’t be found in no other place.
The marvelous carnival in New Orleans which started in 1857 by French expatriates attracts each year thousands of locals and tourists who plan their arrival many months ahead. Due to the numerous visitors during the festival days and the high demand for accommodations it is recommended to check hotel rates and book rooms well in advance.
The carnival’s events reach its climax on “Fat Tuesday” with two colored parades marching in St. Charles Street:
Zulu parade that starts on 08:00 o’clock and Rex parade that starts on 10:00 o’clock.
The program and detailed information can be found on the carnival’s website.
