Montreal high lights festival (Festival Montréal en Lumière) that started in 2000 turns the city, every year, to a giant colorful fiesta that lasts for eleven days. Diverse charged culture events are held: live music concerts, visual art shows, culinary events, exhibitions, etc… More than 800,000 visitors reach the city every year for the festival.

Due to the numerous visitors during the festival days and the high demand for tickets and accommodations it is recommended to check hotel rates and book rooms well in advance.

On the last day of the festival, White Night (Montreal All-Nighter Nuit Blanche) events are held. This is a night dedicated to culture, art, winter sport, food and music.

The festival’s program, venue, lineup information show time / schedule of events, how to get, parking etc, is present in the festival’s link website. See details below, under “Event Related Information” section.

Canada background and overview
A land of vast distances and rich natural resources, Canada became a self-governing dominion in 1867 while retaining ties to the British crown. Economically and technologically the nation has developed in parallel with the US, its neighbor to the south across an unfortified border. Canada's paramount political problem is meeting public demands for quality improvements in health care and education services after a decade of budget cuts. Canada also faces questions about integrity in government following revelations regarding a corruption scandal in the federal government that has helped revive the fortunes of separatists in predominantly francophone Quebec.
