Brazil’s largest beer celebration is held annually since 1984 in Blumenau, located in Itajai Valley (Vale do Itajaí) in Santa Catarina state in southern Brazil. During the festival days there are plenty of events in traditional German style of the October Fest festival in Munich Germany. Blumenau’s events are considered to be the biggest beer events in the world after Munich’s big festival.

Blumenau, that was settled by German immigrants preserves the German tradition and hosts more than 500,000 locals and guests every year. During the festival like every year, hotel rooms are in high demand with surging prices during festival days. Therefore, it is highly recommended to book lodging accommodations ahead of time to enjoy preferable, better rates.

In addition to the beer, the city’s guests enjoy wonderful parties, parades, fine traditional food, live music shows, traditional costume dances, entertainment shows and everything under German influence. The Blumenau Oktoberfest offers visitors fine beer, festive joy and unforgettable cultural experiences.

Brazil background and overview
Following three centuries under the rule of Portugal, Brazil became an independent nation in 1822 and a republic in 1889. By far the largest and most populous country in South America, Brazil overcame more than half a century of military intervention in the governance of the country when in 1985 the military regime peacefully ceded power to civilian rulers. Brazil continues to pursue industrial and agricultural growth and development of its interior. Exploiting vast natural resources and a large labor pool, it is today South America's leading economic power and a regional leader. Highly unequal income distribution remains a pressing problem.
