Every year in the second half of May, Lima, the capital of Peru comes alive with “Día del Payaso Peruano,” honoring clowns and their joyful impact on culture.
The streets burst with parades, performances, workshops, and competitions, showcasing the artistry and humor of clowns nationwide. The day was established to honor beloved clown “Tony Perejil,” who died on May 25, 1987.
