St. Kitts Music Festival, which started in 1996, has become, over the years, to be one of the most varied and attractive musical events in the Caribbean.

The festival, which usually takes place in the last week of June, offers its guests an unforgettable cultural and musical experience. The music festival in the enchanting Caribbean island attracts thousands of music lovers from the US, Canada, Europe and the neighboring islands.

In the festival that has been improved for over 20 years, famous artists and ensembles perform and sing a rich variety of musical styles that is unique to the festival, including: R&B, Gospel, Zouk, Cadence, Reggae, Blues, Dancehall, Meringue, Soul, Jazz

Saint Kitts and Nevis background and overview
Carib Indians occupied the islands of the West Indies for hundreds of years before the British began settlement in 1623. In 1967, the island territory of Saint Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla became an associated state of the UK with full internal autonomy. The island of Anguilla rebelled and was allowed to secede in 1971. The remaining islands achieved independence in 1983 as Saint Kitts and Nevis. In 1998, a referendum on Nevis to separate from Saint Kitts fell short of the two-thirds majority vote needed. Nevis continues in its efforts to separate from Saint Kitts.
