Switzerland’s international yodeling festival which is  hosted every time in different city is held once in three years. This unique event is the climax of many small local jodeling (jodelt) festivals that are held in various places over the country.

 

Through the festival’s days, lot of artists from all over Switzerland, reach the host city. Due to the numerous visitors during the festival days and the high demand for accommodations it is recommended to check hotel rates and book rooms well in advance.

The festival attracts more than 200,000 visitors (locals and tourists). This is a wonderful event for all yodel lovers.

Switzerland background and overview
The Swiss Confederation was founded in 1291 as a defensive alliance among three cantons. In succeeding years, other localities joined the original three. The Swiss Confederation secured its independence from the Holy Roman Empire in 1499. Switzerland's sovereignty and neutrality have long been honored by the major European powers, and the country was not involved in either of the two World Wars. The political and economic integration of Europe over the past half century, as well as Switzerland's role in many UN and international organizations, has strengthened Switzerland's ties with its neighbors. However, the country did not officially become a UN member until 2002. Switzerland remains active in many UN and international organizations, but retains a strong commitment to neutrality.

  • Attention, this festival in Basel will definitely NOT take place in 2022!!! (It was canceled due to Covid 19 in 2020 and 2021, no more postponement date)
    In June 2022 there are only the various sub-association festivals, the accommodations are almost fully booked!!!

    Achtung, dieses Festival in Basel findet 2022 definitiv NICHT statt!!! (Es wurde wegen Covid 19 im 2020 und 2021 abgesagt, kein Verschiebedatum mehr)
    Es gibt im Juni 2022 nur die verschiedenen Unterverbandsfeste, die Unterkünfte sind so gut wie ausgebucht!!!
