Taste of the Kingsway
Taste of the Kingsway is one of Toronto’s premier end-of-summer street festivals. Held annually on the second weekend of September in the historic Kingsway neighborhood of Etobicoke, this vibrant, free-admission community festival draws hundreds of thousands of visitors for three full days of food, live entertainment, and family fun.
The festival closes down a major stretch of Bloor Street West (between Prince Edward Drive and Montgomery Road), transforming the boulevard into an open-air pedestrian celebration filled with international flavors, artisan markets, and live performances.
Festival Highlights:
- Culinary Delights & Street Food: Dozens of local restaurants, bakeries, and visiting food vendors serving diverse cuisines, gourmet street eats, and craft beverages alongside outdoor beer and wine gardens.
- Continuous Live Entertainment: Multiple open-air stages featuring a dynamic mix of classic rock tribute bands, local indie artists, jazz ensembles, and cultural dance troupes.
- Carnival Rides & Family Fun: Classic midway amusement rides, carnival games, bounce houses, and interactive activities at the dedicated SuperDogs show and family zone.
- Artisan & Community Market: Over a hundred local crafters, merchants, and community organizations showcasing handmade goods, fashion, jewelry, and specialty gifts.
Tips for Visitors & Trip Planning:
- Public Transit (TTC): Bloor Street West is closed to vehicular traffic during the festival. Taking Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth Subway) directly to Royal York Station or Old Mill Station is the fastest and easiest way to access the event.
- Free Admission: Entry to the street festival is completely free; individual food purchases, midway ride tickets, and beverage garden access are paid separately.
- Accommodation: Visitors traveling to Toronto for late-summer events will find convenient hotel options in West Toronto and the downtown core. Checking hotel rates and booking in advance is recommended.
