The autonomous community Cantabria is located in north Spain, holds, every year since 2001 a festival of Cantabrian Wars. In the colorful noisy festive the participants restore the battles that occurred in Cantabria against the Romans intruders between the years 19-19 BC.
During the festival’s days, the residents of the town Los Corales de Buelna in Cantabria turn their town to a city from the time of the Roman Empire.
The inhabitants are divided into two camps those who play the role of the Romans and those who play the role of Cantabria’s resistance. They all wear their period clothes, carrying ancient “weapon”, while fighting bloody battles between them.
During the festival, accommodation may be scarce owing to higher demands, therefore it is advisable to check accommodation prices and make reservations ahead of time.
In addition to recreating the fascinating battles, there are also cultural and entertainment events in the spirit of the times, a Roman military camp is established, reconstruction of ancient markets, and more.
