The town La Tirana that is located about 70 km from the north county town Iquique, holds every year a festive festival in honor of the Virgen del Carmen.
The festival hosts, every year, about 200,000-250,000 visitors. It suggests in addition to religious ceremonies, diverse colorful events as dance and singing shows where the celebrators are dressed in colored traditional cloths, according to the local culture and tradition.
Thousands of people, local and tourists pour into town and the demand for accommodation is higher than usual, therefore it is advisable to check hotel prices and make reservations ahead of time.
