Witches’ Night – is held, yearly, in the evening of April 30th. This is another Pagan customs preserved by the Christianity. In the witches’ night, dolls that look like witches are burned as a symbol to the victory of the good forces upon the evil and to mark the departure of winter.
intend to bring bad luck and misfortune for the people. Hence, disposal of the witches is done by lightening giant fires on the top of hills.
The fire will rise above the hill and burn the witches while on the air…
The ceremonies take place all over the Czech Republic, when the biggest fire is held on PetÅ™ín hill which is located on the west bank of Vlatlava River in Prague.
